UMBC is a center for cutting-edge research in the Baltimore-Washington corridor and is home to 20 research centers and institutes and offers more than 25 graduate programs in science, engineering and IT. Nearly 60 percent of UMBC students major in science, engineering and IT fields, conducting research alongside world-class faculty even at the undergraduate level. UMBC graduates move on to research positions at the FDA and NIH, and are actively recruited by companies across the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
