OpGen is currently providing "optical mapping" services to laboratories worldwide. These users apply mapping data to identify bacterial strains, perform comparative genomic studies and to assemble full nucleotide sequences from contig data. The bench top instrument we are developing allows users to produce "optical maps" within hours of sample prep. On schedule for introduction to the Discovery markets in 2009 and clinical laboratories upon FDA approval, currently anticipated in 2010 our instrument will provide rapid bacterial identification and antibiotic resistance prediction from blood cultures, urine cultures or other relevant clinical samples.
